Assistant Chemist / Chemist / Senior Chemist
Reports to: Laboratory Manager
Job Summary
Responsible for analysis and reporting of various products, such as Crude Oil, Fuel Oils, Middle Distillates, Petroleum and Petrochemicals, LPG and LNG gases, etc. Perform Calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the analytical instruments.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for conducting laboratory analysis.
- Understand and keep current with all laboratory analysis methods, safety, and reporting techniques.
- Complete all laboratory reports as applicable.
- Understand and perform SQC charting.
- Set up new methods whenever required.
- Provide training to laboratory analysts following the standard of ASTM, IP, ISO methods.
- Responsible for the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Record analytical results accurately and promptly and maintain necessary records including raw data and derived results.
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Diploma / Degree in Science or at least 2-3 years experience working in a chemical, petroleum, or petrochemical laboratory.
- Having some experience in changing GC column would be an advantage.
- Ability to understand ASTM standards and procedures.
- Protocol, procedure, and safety-oriented.
- Ability to perform analytical tasks.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, while directing numerous projects concurrently with different deadlines.
- High tolerance for job pressure.
- Able to work on a flexible schedule as the position will include evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on customers’ requirements.
- Ability to verify and check results during and after office hours.
- The position requires a dependable and reliable individual whose daily presence adds to the success of the department.
- Able to work independently and a good team player.
- Ability to work and communicate with persons of diverse personalities and backgrounds.
