Job Summary
Crude Assay Manager is responsible for managing everyday operations. S/he will keep management
informed of any issues or laboratory requirements. The Manager is responsible for arranging
instrumental calibrations, samples, analytical assignments, maintaining calibration data and quality
control, reviewing final reports, and physical maintenance of the Crude Assay Lab. Responsibilities are
subject to change accordingly per management requirements.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
o Crude Assay Manager assures timely and accurate laboratory Certificates of Analysis are reported.
o Coordinate incoming samples to the lab and track shipments while updating clients.
o Coordinating and scheduling laboratory assignments to laboratory personnel.
o Performing GC and Analytical analysis as required.
o Provide guidance with D2892/D5236 Distillations.
o Supervise D2892/D5266 equipment and ensure they are in operating order.
o Receiving, compiling, and verifying the data resulting from laboratory testing.
o Knowledge of working with LIMS Software.
o Explanation of specifications, methods, and results for clients, when needed.
o Email management with weekly update of work status and ongoing changes.
o Track and Chart routine testing for historical data.
o Review and verify that all Distillation Data, Analytical Data and GC Data balance well for the Assay.
o Enter Crude Assay data into Haverly, Spiral or AmSpec reports.
o Assist with investigations and resolution of customer concerns regarding services provided.
o Providing training to laboratory personnel.
o Managing the laboratory equipment and supply inventory.
o Coordinating the replacement or repair of faulty equipment and supplies.
o Must understand instrument calibrations, verifications, and maintain records as per schedule.
o Any other related duties as required, as appropriate and as directed by management.

Skills/Qualifications
o One of this three education and/or experience levels must be met.
o Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline and 2 years experience in a Petroleum Laboratory
o Associates Degree in a technical discipline and 3 years experience in a Petroleum Laboratory
o 5 years experience in a Petroleum Laboratory
o Must demonstrate evidence of strong managerial, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
o Petroleum Laboratory experience must include analytical testing, instrument maintenance, instrument
calibrations, quality control systems/procedure, and training protocols.
o Task oriented and disciplined to ensure that deadlines are met.
o Must possess a thorough understanding of industry-related safety and training.
o The individual must demonstrate the ability to grasp new procedures quickly and implement them.
