Regional Laboratory Training Manager

Job Summary

The Regional Laboratory Training Manager is responsible for the coordination and administration of the Laboratory Technical Training Program for their region of responsibility.


  • Coordinate internal and external technical training classes for test method performance, training strategies, instrument/equipment maintenance, quality assurance and data integrity policies and procedure, and technical team leadership and management
  • Schedule and dispatch a group of part-time Technical Trainers for on-site test method specific technical training with new and existing laboratory employees
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance, Business Development to evaluate, develop and adopt the Technical Training Program to meet operational demands
  • Conduct periodic regional “Train the Trainer” classes for employees seeking Technical Trainer designation
  • Liaise between Laboratory Managers, Director of Laboratory Operations, VP of QA and Executive Management Team to evaluate effectiveness of the Technical Training Program
  • Provide on-site support for client interactions, audit follow up, and incident investigation and response.
  • Monitor Proficiency Testing Programs, analyze for trends, and allocate training resources when necessary
  • Manage an allocated budget for the Technical Training Program
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years’ experience performing petroleum testing or Associates degree and 4 years’ experience performing petroleum testing
  • 2+ years’ experience in Petroleum Testing Laboratory Training
  • Ability to work independently
  • In depth knowledge of Excel and other programs used to analyze data
  • ISO Certification a plus; not required
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Knowledge of applicable quality standards and company regulations

Physical Requirements

Work is routinely performed in office environments, with occasional exposure to both an internal and external environment including inclement weather and varying temperatures. The qualified individual may be exposed to hazardous chemicals.
