Senior Accountant (Colombo, Sri Lanka)
Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing daily accounting operations and ensuring accurate financial reporting in compliance with local and international standards. This includes oversight of accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, bank reconciliations, and the monthly and annual closing processes. The role also involves preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with Sri Lankan tax regulations, coordinating with auditors and regulatory bodies, and supporting budgeting and forecasting activities. Strong internal controls must be maintained in alignment with AmSpec’s global standards, while ensuring timely and accurate reporting to the regional finance team.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Full or part qualification in ICA / CIMA / ACCA or equivalent
- Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience in accounting, including at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan tax laws and accounting standards.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and experience with accounting software/ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Experience working in a multinational or global reporting environment is a plus.
Main duties:
- Supervise daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in compliance with local and international accounting standards.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
- Monitor and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
- Prepare financial statements and management reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with Sri Lankan tax regulations (VAT, NBT, PAYE, Corporate Tax, etc.) and handle statutory filings.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies as required.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
- Implement and maintain internal controls and financial procedures in alignment with AmSpec’s global standards.
- Coordinate with the regional finance team and ensure smooth financial reporting to head office.
