Laboratory Analyst
Brief Description:
- Perform refinery distillation work in lab.
- Responsible for reporting of various products data, such as Crude Oil, Fuel Oils, Middle Distillates, Petroleum and Petrochemicals, LPG and LNG gases, etc.
- Perform calibration, troubleshooting and maintenance of analytical instruments.
- Manage and coordinate all work of the laboratory to provide timely response, accurate data and smooth operations.
- Assist Technical Manager in achieving and maintaining the financial and quality & safety control systems to meet laboratories’ requirements.
- Assist in refinery samples, heavy distillates, overseas and main lab samples when necessary.
- Cover main Lab Analyst when they are on leave.
Responsibilities:
- Understand and keep current with all laboratory analysis methods, safety, and reporting techniques.
- To communicate clearly with Operation staff and clients to ensure smooth operations, support project work and collaborations to achieve company goals.
- To ensure all samples received are logged in with unique identifiers and are traceable.
- To vet through test reports and liaise with Operation staff and clients.
- Complete all laboratory reports as applicable.
- Understand and perform SQC charting.
- Set up new methods whenever required.
- To liaise and work as a team with technical staff on equipment / testing problems and to minimize delays so as to provide efficient services.
- To coordinate and arrange manpower for shift duties and other normal manpower requirements and exigencies of business.
- Record analytical results accurately and promptly and maintain necessary records including raw data and derived results.
- To monitor safety issues and assist to implement and enforcing it.
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Technical Manager.
Requirements:
- Diploma in Science / Chemical Engineering or at least 2-3 years’ experience working in a chemical, petroleum, or petrochemical laboratory.
- Ability to understand ASTM standards and procedures.
- Protocol, procedure, and safety oriented.
- Ability to perform analytical tasks.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, while directing numerous projects concurrently with different deadlines.
- High tolerance for job pressure.
- Able to work on flexible schedule as position will include evenings, weekend, and holidays, based on customers’ requirements.
- Ability to verify and check results during and after office hours.
- Position requires a dependable and reliable individual whose daily presence adds to the success of the department.
- Able to work independently and a good team player.
- Ability to work and communicate with people of diverse personalities and backgrounds.
