Job Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of AmSpec’s activities in Togo. The role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records, compliance with local statutory and tax requirements, timely financial reporting, and effective financial controls. The Senior Accountant will work closely with Operations, Administration, HR, and Regional Finance teams to support the Company’s inspection, testing, laboratory, and related service operations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and complete accounting records in accordance with Company policies and applicable accounting standards.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Review and post journal entries, accruals, provisions, and adjustments.
- Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, intercompany balances, and balance sheet accounts.
- Monitor cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Oversee supplier payments and ensure timely settlement of obligations.
- Review and approve vendor invoices and payment requests.
- Monitor customer receivables and coordinate collection activities.
- Ensure proper billing and revenue recognition processes are followed.
- Review aging reports and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
Taxation & Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all local tax regulations and statutory requirements in Togo.
- Prepare and coordinate VAT, corporate tax, withholding tax, and other regulatory filings.
- Liaise with tax authorities, auditors, banks, and government agencies when required.
- Monitor changes in local legislation and assess their impact on Company operations.
Budgeting & Financial Analysis
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to Management.
- Prepare variance analysis reports and identify areas for cost optimization.
- Support Management with financial planning and decision-making.
Internal Controls & Audit
- Ensure compliance with Company financial policies and internal control procedures.
- Support internal and external audits and coordinate the provision of audit documentation.
- Identify financial risks and recommend control improvements.
- Ensure proper record retention and document management.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CMA, CA, or equivalent is preferred.
- Minimum 5–8 years of accounting experience, preferably within the oil & gas, inspection, testing, laboratory, logistics, or service industries.
- Experience managing accounting functions within a multinational environment is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, taxation, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Experience with ERP and accounting software systems.
