Every career has an interesting story. Could you tell us about your professional journey and what ultimately brought you to AmSpec?
My professional journey began in 1985 as a receptionist for a TIC company, where I spent 25 years. That experience gave me the opportunity to learn, grow, and ultimately develop into a leadership role within the Agri sector. Nearly 10 years ago, my professional growth goals led me to AmSpec, where I now serve as Vice President of the U.S. Agri & Food Division.
As Vice President of the U.S. Agri & Food Division, what aspects of your role do you find the most rewarding?
Establishing AmSpec’s U.S. Agri Division in 2016 and helping build a strong, successful, and experienced team has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my career. I truly care about every member of our team, as well as our clients, so seeing their personal growth and success, along with the strong client relationships we’ve built over the years, has been a real highlight of my career.
When developing long-term strategies, what are the key priorities you believe will shape the future of AmSpec’s Agri & Food business?
One of the things I value most about AmSpec is its entrepreneurial environment, where everyone can feel they are contributing to the company’s growth and success. The key is to give people the tools and training they need to grow within the organization, help them understand our day-to-day operations, and reinforce the importance of trust and ethics.
As a woman leading a major business division, what advice would you give to women aspiring to leadership roles within agriculture and the TIC industry?
As a woman, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to through hard work, dedication, and clear goals. Surround yourself with strong women who support and encourage one another and never underestimate what you are capable of achieving.
How would you describe the culture you’ve helped build within your team, and what values are most important to you as a leader?
A strong team culture is built on trust, open communication, teamwork, and mutual respect. Everyone on the team should feel supported, comfortable sharing ideas, and confident that they play an important role in our collective growth and success.
If someone joined AmSpec tomorrow, what mindset would you encourage them to bring to the organization?
I would encourage them to be confident, keep an open mind, and be willing to learn every aspect of the business. Take advantage of growth opportunities, don’t be afraid to ask questions, and learn from both your successes and your mistakes. Most importantly, embrace teamwork—great things are achieved together.
Outside of the office, what activities help you switch off and recharge?
Outside of work, I’m a proud ‘KK’ to two grandsons and one granddaughter. Most weekends you’ll find me cheering on my grandsons at their sporting events. I also enjoy spending time outdoors, relaxing by the pool, traveling, and creating special memories with my family.
Finally, one fun question… coffee or tea?
Definitely iced tea!
