Inspector
Role Overview
As an Inspector at our TIC company, you will act as our independent eyes and ears in the field, representing our commitment to quality, accuracy, and integrity. You will be responsible for conducting accurate, safe, and independent inspection, sampling, and measurement of various commodities (such as petroleum products, chemicals, and/or bulk cargo) at storage terminals, refineries, vessels, and pipelines across the UAE. Your meticulous attention to detail and adherence to strict international standards and safety protocols will ensure reliable data and maintain our clients’ trust.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspection & Measurement: Conduct quantity and quality inspections, including ullage/sounding surveys, shore tank measurements, meter readings, and vessel experience factor (VEF) verifications.
- Sampling: Draw representative samples of liquid or dry bulk cargoes in compliance with international standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO, API) and company procedures, ensuring no contamination occurs.
- Supervision: Oversee cargo transfer operations (loading/discharge) on vessels, barges, or shore tanks to monitor safety, minimize loss, and report any anomalies immediately.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare accurate, clear, and timely field logs, inspection certificates, and Timesheets (Statement of Facts); report any discrepancies or off-specification findings promptly to management and clients.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all specialized inspection and testing equipment (e.g., thermometers, oil-water interface detectors, sampling devices) is properly calibrated, cleaned, and maintained before use.
- Compliance & HSE: Strictly adhere to Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) guidelines, client site regulations, and permit-to-work (PTW) systems at all times.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Diploma or bachelor’s degree in engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent relevant field experience).
- Experience: 2 to 3 years of hands-on inspection and sampling experience within the TIC industry (specifically petroleum, petrochemicals, or marine cargo surveying).
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with international standards and procedures (ASTM, API, ISO, IFIA) relevant to cargo inspection.
- Regional Context: Prior experience working in the UAE petroleum/marine sector or familiarity with local terminal and port operations is a strong advantage.
- Licensing: Valid UAE Driving License is preferred. Relevant offshore/onshore safety certifications (e.g., BOSIET/HUET, Basic Sea Survival) may be required depending on the assignment.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Technical Proficiency: Strong mathematical skills for quantity calculations and tank calibration table usage.
- Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills in English; ability to liaise professionally with shipmasters, terminal operators, and clients.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving: High level of accuracy and keen observation skills to detect cargo contamination, equipment failures, or quantity discrepancies.
- Resilience & Adaptability: Ability to work in challenging environments (e.g., extreme outdoor weather, high-altitude tanks, round-the-clock shift work, and maritime settings).
- Safety-Conscious: Uncompromising commitment to personal safety, safe-working procedures, and environmental protection.
