Job Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing the Company’s accounting and financial operations in Ghana. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with local statutory and tax requirements, effective internal controls, and timely support to management in financial planning and decision-making. The Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting the Company’s inspection, testing, laboratory, and related service operations while ensuring financial integrity and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and complete accounting records in accordance with Company policies and applicable accounting standards.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Review and approve journal entries, accruals, provisions, and account reconciliations.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, intercompany accounts, and balance sheet accounts.
  • Monitor cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts.

Accounts Receivable & Revenue Management

  • Oversee customer invoicing and ensure timely billing of services.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and coordinate collection activities.
  • Review customer aging reports and implement collection strategies.
  • Ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with Company policies.

Accounts Payable & Treasury

  • Review and process supplier invoices and payment requests.
  • Manage payment schedules and maintain strong vendor relationships.
  • Monitor banking transactions and coordinate treasury activities.
  • Ensure effective cash management and liquidity planning.

Taxation & Statutory Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with all Ghanaian tax laws and statutory requirements.
  • Prepare and coordinate VAT, PAYE, withholding tax, corporate tax, SSNIT, and other regulatory filings.
  • Liaise with tax authorities, auditors, banks, and government agencies.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on the business.

Budgeting & Financial Analysis

  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Perform financial analysis and variance reporting.
  • Provide management with insights and recommendations to improve financial performance.
  • Support strategic planning and business decision-making processes.

Internal Controls & Audit

  • Ensure compliance with Company financial policies and internal controls.
  • Support internal and external audits and coordinate audit requirements.
  • Identify financial risks and recommend process improvements.
  • Maintain proper financial documentation and record retention.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CA, CMA, or equivalent is highly preferred.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience within the oil & gas, inspection, testing, laboratory, logistics, or technical services sectors is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting, taxation, and statutory compliance.
  • Experience using ERP and accounting software systems.
