Senior Accountant – Sri Lanka

Position Overview
AmSpec Lanka is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Finance team in Sri Lanka. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting month-end closing activities, and maintaining compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.
The ideal candidate should have 6+ years of relevant accounting experience, strong technical accounting skills, and the ability to work independently while supporting the Finance team and business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare accurate financial statements, management reports, and financial analysis as required.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded and reported.
- Review and verify accounting entries, supporting documents, and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor accounts receivable and payable balances and support timely collection and payment processes.
- Prepare and review account reconciliations, including bank accounts, supplier accounts, customer accounts, and balance sheet accounts.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, statutory requirements, and internal financial policies.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
- Identify process improvements and contribute to enhancing financial controls and accounting procedures.
- Provide guidance and support to junior accounting team members.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve financial and accounting-related queries.
- Perform any other finance-related duties assigned by management.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (CA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) is preferred.
- Minimum 6 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes.
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Good understanding of Sri Lankan accounting standards, taxation, and statutory requirements.
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
