Senior Inspector – Hydrocarbons

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct and supervise inspection, testing, measurement, sampling, and cargo verification activities at terminals, vessels, storage facilities, refineries, and other oil & gas locations.
• Ensure all inspections are carried out accurately, independently, and in accordance with company procedures, client requirements, relevant international standards, and applicable local regulations.
• Perform quantity and quality measurements of petroleum, chemical, and other products, including sampling, gauging, temperature measurement, density checks, and related field activities.
• Review and verify inspection data, calculations, sampling records, certificates, reports, and other operational documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate with clients, vessel personnel, terminal representatives, laboratories, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of inspection assignments.
• Identify and report discrepancies, contamination, quality issues, measurement variances, operational incidents, and other irregularities observed during inspections.
• Prepare clear, accurate, and timely inspection reports, certificates, Letters of Protest, statements of facts, and other required documentation.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior inspectors and field personnel and assist with on-the-job training and competency development.
• Ensure all activities comply with company QHSE policies, including safe working practices, PPE requirements, risk assessments, and applicable site safety procedures.
• Maintain and properly use inspection equipment, ensuring equipment is calibrated, fit for purpose, and handled in accordance with company requirements.
• Take ownership of assigned inspections from planning through completion and promptly communicate operational challenges or client concerns to management.
• Support the Operations Manager in resolving technical and operational issues and contribute to maintaining high standards of service quality and customer satisfaction.
• Participate in audits, investigations, competency assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives when required.
• Always maintain professional and impartial conduct and protect the integrity and confidentiality of client and company information.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or relevant technical qualification in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Marine Studies, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in oil & gas inspection, cargo surveying, petroleum measurement, testing, or related inspection services.
• Strong experience in quantity and quality inspection of petroleum products, chemicals, or other bulk commodities.
• Good knowledge of relevant industry standards and procedures, including API, ASTM, ISO, and other applicable inspection standards.
• Experience with vessel, terminal, tank, pipeline, and refinery inspection activities is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of sampling, gauging, measurement, calculations, and inspection reporting.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and multiple operational stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail, professional judgment, and ability to work independently under challenging field conditions.
• Proficiency in English; French language skills are highly desirable for the Gabonese market.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, depending on operational requirements.
