How long have you been with the company, and what brought you to the TIC industry in the first place?
I joined the company in January 2023, so it’s been just over three years now — it’s crazy how quickly time has flown by!
My path into the TIC industry actually started by chance. At the time, I was working in another area of the Oil & Gas sector, and during an industry event I had organized for my previous company, I met my current manager. That meeting eventually led me to join the TIC industry, where I’ve been working ever since.
Can you briefly describe your role as a Commercial Executive at AmSpec Italia?
As a Commercial Executive at AmSpec Italia, I focus on developing strong client relationships and supporting their needs across the inspection and testing services we provide throughout Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia.
My day-to-day consists of working closely with both clients and operational teams to ensure clear communication, identify new opportunities, and help coordinate services from the initial request through to completion.
What’s your favorite part about coming to work every day?
My favorite part is variety. No two days are ever the same — I have the chance to connect with people across the industry and travel quite a bit, which makes my job both dynamic and rewarding.
What’s the most challenging part of your job?
One of the most challenging parts is handling urgent requests while coordinating between clients and operational teams, often with very tight timelines. It definitely keeps you on your toes, but it’s also part of what makes the job so dynamic.
What is the most common misconception clients have about testing or certification processes?
Many people assume that sampling and testing are quick and simple processes. In reality, doing the job properly requires expertise, precision, and the right analytical timing. Sometimes, even an extra minute spent ensuring an accurate analysis can save a client a great deal of money.
Selling TIC services isn’t always easy; clients often see it as a “cost of doing business.” How do you flip that narrative to show it as an investment or a value-add?
Some clients initially see TIC services as just another cost. I usually explain that they are essential to ensuring a transaction runs smoothly.
In the context of trade deals worth millions, a reliable inspection is a small cost that can prevent very expensive problems.
What’s the most creative solution you’ve ever put together to meet a client’s tight deadline or unique testing requirement?
In our industry, tight schedules are almost the norm, so finding creative solutions is part of the job. When timing is critical, we work closely with inspectors, laboratories, and our ops teams to make sure samples reach the lab as quickly as possible. Over the years, this has meant using every possible option — taxis, motorboats, even hydrofoils. I sometimes joke that the only thing we haven’t tried yet is sending them by drone.
What is unique about AmSpec Italia?
What I find unique about AmSpec Italia is the balance between being part of a global organization and having a highly collaborative, hands-on local team. It creates an environment where people work closely together and where we can respond quickly and effectively to our clients’ needs.
What is the best piece of career advice you ever received, and who gave it to you?
The best career advice I ever received came from my father. He always reminded me to stay true to who I am, never to underestimate my abilities, and to remember that there is always a solution to every challenge. This perspective has stayed with me throughout my career and continues to shape the way I approach my work today.
What is one fun fact about you that would surprise your colleagues?
A fun fact about me is that in a previous chapter of my life, I learned how to assist a pregnant passenger in case of an in-flight birth. It was part of my training while working with Emirates — thankfully, I never had to deliver a baby at 30,000 feet!
Coffee or tea? And what’s your order?
I’m Italian, there’s really no question about it: a single espresso macchiato, religiously enjoyed at the bar first thing in the morning.
