Accredited hydrogen, LNG, and fuel oil testing for producers, terminals, and buyers who need results they can stand behind.
Reliable hydrogen purity testing starts with a lab that understands what’s riding on the results. As hydrogen moves further into fuel cells, refining, and industrial applications, even trace contaminants can affect performance, safety, and compliance. Our accredited laboratories test hydrogen against ISO 14687 and SAE J2719 specifications, giving producers, distributors, and end users the data they need to certify a load before it ships or gets accepted. We pair that work with LNG testing and inspection and fuel oil testing, so energy clients can rely on one lab network for the full range of fuels moving through their operations.
Hydrogen purity requirements vary by application, and our labs are equipped to test across the full specification range fuel cell operators, refineries, and industrial gas suppliers rely on. Our scope includes:
Results are documented in certificates of analysis that hold up under regulatory review, contract disputes, or internal quality audits.
Hydrogen is rarely the only fuel our clients need tested. Our LNG testing inspection services cover custody transfer measurement, composition analysis, and cargo inspection at loading and discharge, giving buyers and sellers a neutral, third-party record of what actually changed hands. We handle sampling, heating value determination, and quantity verification for LNG carriers, storage terminals, and pipeline interconnects, with technicians available to support time-sensitive vessel schedules.
For clients managing marine fuel, industrial heating oil, or bunker supply, our fuel oil testing program checks sulfur content, viscosity, flash point, water and sediment, and compliance with IMO and ASTM specifications. Whether you need pre-shipment testing, receipt sampling, or ongoing quality monitoring across a supply chain, our labs deliver data fast enough to support real operational decisions, not just paperwork after the fact.
Testing only matters if the lab behind it is trustworthy. Our facilities operate under ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation and follow ASTM, API, and ISO methodologies across every fuel category we test. A few things that set our process apart:
Our quality assurance program is built around the same standards regulators and counterparties expect to see, which is why our certificates of analysis are trusted across the energy sector.
As the demand for hydrogen grows, so do the challenges and opportunities. From advancing electrolyser technologies to addressing storage concerns, our global team of experts is committed to navigating the evolving landscape alongside our clients.
With over 35 years of industry experience, AmSpec Hydrogen delivers trusted solutions that maximize quality, minimize risks, and ensure regulatory compliance. Join us in shaping the future of sustainable energy and achieving net zero goals with confidence.

Hydrogen samples are analyzed using gas chromatography and other laboratory methods to measure trace contaminants such as moisture, sulfur compounds, and carbon monoxide against specifications like ISO 14687.
Even small amounts of certain contaminants can degrade fuel cell membranes and reduce efficiency over time, which is why fuel cell grade hydrogen has some of the tightest purity specifications of any industrial gas.
Both. We can sample and test hydrogen at production facilities, distribution points, or point of use, depending on what a client’s contract or internal quality program requires.
Testing refers to laboratory analysis of composition and heating value, while inspection covers the physical oversight of loading, discharge, and quantity measurement. We provide both as part of the same engagement.
