We offer comprehensive certification services to verify that firefighting AFFF foam is free of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).

The Maritime Safety Committee, at its 107th session, adopted amendments to SOLAS Chapter II-2, Part C, Regulation 10 – Fire Fighting and the High-Speed Craft Code (HSC) Chapter 7 Part A, Regulation 7.9 which prohibit the use of firefighting foams containing perfluorinated alkylated substances (PFAS) on board ships and other vessels, including mobile offshore units. Three Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) chemicals, as listed in the Stockholm Convention, are perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), Perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS), Perfluorohexane sulfonic acid (PFHxS), and their respective salts and related compounds.

Additionally, we take samples of foam concentrate, cleaning liquids, and swabs to give you a complete picture of the presence of PFAS in your firefighting equipment when carrying out your periodical control of foam concentrates on board, or alternatively, when developing the Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM) Part I.

We sample your ballast water in preparation for detailed analysis as part of our range of services, offering you cost-effective ways to prevent marine pollution in accordance with the IMO adopted BWM.2/Circ 70 rev.1 Guidance for the commissioning testing of BWMS. The IMO D-2 standard basic sampling parameters include temperature, salinity, organic matter, chlorophyll, discharge, sediment, zoo and phytoplankton. We can monitor healthy plankton and marine life levels in accordance with international environmental standards.
